There is so much hype around the word “organic” right now that I think with many things it has just become a marketing strategy. It can be hard to know what items should you spend the extra $2 on because it says “organic”. And are we really even sure what they mean when something like a sugary beverage says organic? Just because that word is printed on a label does not mean that it is healthy.
In our house, a majority of our meals are plant based; making it very expensive if I am buying everything organic. Therefore I refer to what is known as the “Dirty Dozen”. It is a wonderful list created each year to help consumers know which produce contains the highest levels of pesticides and which contain the lowest. That way I can decide to save $ on items such as avocados and bananas which are not high on the pesticide list and be sure to find things like spinach and strawberries organic.
